Not to miss...

9 november 2008 - Amsterdam, Nederland

Hi all,

Past weekend I read some pages in my diary from last year journey. I found a list of "the 10 things from India that I wont miss when I'm back home". I wrote this to put this on the internet, for other travellers…so here it is:

I wont miss:

1. The gypsy children, which you see being beaten or thrown at with stones. Also the only way to make them 'listening". Painfull and makes you feel a terrible person

2. Tourists who think they can make the world better by giving money, who reward begging, the hippies, the foreigners who feed the dogs, the blabla I've been everywhere (and not saw anything)-people

3. Throwing the waste out of the window, or looking for the biggest pillow to put it on

4. The smell of urine, dettol and acid

5. The noise (when I ever became deaf I hold this journey responsable for that)

6. The non-western toilets and all other kinds of dirty things called a toilet..

7. Mumbai...too expensive

8. The rats and black crows

9. Snoring Indians; man and woman!!

10. The aggressive approchements…

Uhm.....for what reasons on earth I am going back to this country????!!!!

I was glad that I found another list on the next page!

The 10 things which I’m going to miss about India :-)

1. Everywhere and always there are people willing to get you what you need. (as long as you have rupees…)

2. Everything is for sale everywhere…and otherwise it will be arranged. How convenient!

3. Waiting, waiting….and waiting. How lovely is it to take time? Why hurry?

4. Sweet and vegetable markets. The colours and assortment. Love it!

5. The 2 ltr boiler of hot water. How happy a person can be with very little. (and how spoiled are we in the west)

6. Being asked all the time if there is something I need. Handy if you need to know something..but be aware….ask at least 20 persons the same question and take the average as the answer to your question.

7. People always around everywhere. You’ll never feel lonely in India!

8. The clothes of the woman and the faces of the older people… artworks in itself!

9. The crammed busses…but still there is place for you! In Holland it would just pass and you can wait for another 30 minutes-while freezing.

10. The nice hot chai in the trains..served at your berth whenever you want!-By a man ;-) that never happens to me in Holland…
