Visak trip

19 februari 2011 - Hyderabad, India

Hi all... So i just came back last night from a 2 day trip to Visak or officially Visakapathnam. Shekhar had to go here for business as his company has a plant here. We took a flight going there. And in the afternoon I started with some sightseeing. I first went to visit a submarine that is exposed there as a musuem. Very interesting to see that. Also see  my pics. After I went to risikhonda beach, followinig beach way. Very beatifull scenery and of course always relaxing to be at the beach, though I seemed to be an attracktion here too...After the beach I went up to the Kailash giri hill, where a statue of Shiva and Parvati, completely white is. It s set in a nice park where you can walk around, have a drink and beautifull sights out over Visak and the see. I watched the sunset and went down with a Rope-way, oftewel een kabelbaan! (!)....since i am not a big fan of those things anyway, definetely not an indian one, but I survived. In the night we took a bite in the famous park hotel, situated at the beach. Good food! Than we went back to the hotel, catchin sleep early for a long day to come up.

Friday we started out with a breakfast, than Shekhar proceded his work and I went to visit another beach, on the way going there taking a look at a christian chuch setup in 1810. So even in Gultland there are some christians, I wasnt aware of that. Also the english had a settlement here. Of course, because it is a big harbour city. We also went driving trough the coal mining area. A very dirty industry..makes u think twice when u buy another thing in the west. We have clean industries, but somewhere the black work has to be done. its a really dusty area, black roads, and everything looking black because of the coal dust. The water the roads, to prevent the dust going around. So very impressive to see!

In the afternoon I went to visit Simhachalan temple, the so called lion mountain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simhachalam . It hapens to be one of the older (1087) temples in the world. It s indias second richest temple, after Tirupati. (abt 9 mlj euro revenue). The actual statue only is visible 12 h a year. I went in to do the "round" and enjoyed the temple. It s a beautifull temple and good place to spend some time. It wasn't busy at all, so I took the free Dharsan entry. (in busy periods you can buy a ticket giving you a shortway for 2 dollars. or 200 rs.)

So after the visit I went back to the airport ( a very small one though, military airport as well) and catched the flight back to Hyderabad. This morning very early Shekhar left for picking up chitgra and the baby in Umdavalli. I stayed in Hyderabad, because I need a bit of peace and take it easy. Tomorrow I will probably go out for shopping a bit and try to manage some work on job things..

Ok take care, there I heard Holland is pretty watery cold...I feel very sorry for you.... (hmmm heel echt gemeend... )

    Hey Marloes!

    Groejes Geline
